Epona Community Engagement Project
In this phase of the Epona project we have been working with communities and schools around the heritage of the Tebay Gorge area and the Fell Ponies native to Cumbria.
Thanks to funding from the former Eden District Council and the ‘Love Your Landscape’ grant from the Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership the Epona Community Engagement Project engaged 11 schools in the Tebay area bringing artist Alex Jakob-Whitworth, heritage expert Chloe Brownlee-Chapman and writer Anja Phoenix to each school to deliver a series of unique workshops.
Currently on show at Rheged Community Gallery the concept of Epona, The Wild Pony of the North a new piece of land art for Cumbria, can be seen alongside information about the workshops in schools and some of the work produced by the children.
